Lizzie Carruthers

As a farmer all her working life Lizzie Carruthers has worked closely with a range of animals. This experience of getting to know individual animals, both on the farm and as family pets, has enabled her to uncover and admire the many human characteristics animals portray.
Even though she has always drawn she has focused her painting, for the last two years, on the application of colour using oils and acrylics. Her ability to draw and render form is well illustrated in the works in this exhibition as is her incisive eye capturing aspects of each animals personality. Carruthers' rich and playful humour is reflected in the titles of the paintings – "I have given each of the animals a back story though a whimsical and sometimes topical title".

Lizzie Carruthers first solo show "NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED"
was a huge success with many of the works selling.
Below are some of the works that were in that exhibition.
